How to Hide your Active Status in Facebook not just in Messenger App

This article tutorial will help you to turn off your active status in your Facebook account, yes, in Facebook not on Messenger app.

Sometimes you might just want to hide your online status (Active Now) on Facebook. Right? You may not want to be seen as online on the chat of your annoying friend, that one cheeky officemate in group chat, or workplace, and mostly to people you're not much comfortable with.

Why you should turn off the status of your Facebook account not just in Messenger app?

It's because as you observe if you turn off your Messenger's active status and once you open your Facebook app your active status in Messenger will be Active Now  (green dot). So to prevent that, you have to close your Facebook app, or totally turn off the active status.

We can easily turn off or turn on our active status in Messenger app, by accessing the

  1. Messenger's Home, tap your profile picture in the top right.
  2.  Go to Profile.
  3. Tap the Active Status
  4. Tap the toggle button to Turn On or Turn Off to confirm your choice.

Note that even you turn off your Active Status, upcoming messages will still go to your inbox for you to read.


How to Hide your Active Status in Facebook App

  1. Simply open your Facebook app.
  2. Tap the hamburger menu in the top right of the app.
  3. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.
  4. Go to Settings.
  5. Scroll down in Privacy category tap Active Status.
  6. Tap the toggle button to Turn On or Turn Off to confirm your choice.

And now we're done.

So that’s how you can turn off and turn on your online status in Facebook.
